Dr. Stuart Lake
Director & Non – Executive Chairman,
Invictus Energy – Perth, Australia.
Dr. Lake has over 34 years of global experience in the Petroleum industry and significant expertise, having operated assets in 20 countries worldwide, including in over ten African countries. He brings a combination of in-depth technical knowledge and a world class track record as an oil and gas finder, having led many teams in maintaining a 90% exploration success rate (from over 300 wells in 11 countries including deep-water and new plays) throughout his career.
Dr Lake has held a wide variety of roles in international Oil and Gas companies. Most recently as CEO of AGM Petroleum Ghana and CEO of MInexco, the operator of the offshore South Deepwater Tano Block in Ghana, where he brought in Petrica Energy as the new main shareholder and acquired over 2000km² 3D seismic, leading to a recently reported new oil discovery.
Prior to this, Dr Lake was CEO of African Petroleum Corporation Ltd, where he successfully concluded a number of farm-outs and commercial deals for their West African portfolio in a challenging market and successfully listed the company on the Oslo Bors in Norway.
Between 2009 and 2013, Dr Lake served as Vice President of Exploration in the Hess Corporation, leading highly successful Exploration campaigns, including the seven consecutive deep-water discoveries in Ghana (recently purchased by Aker Energy) and 30 onshore discoveries in Russia.
Prior to 2009 Dr Lake spent four years in the Apache Corporation overseeing Global New Ventures and Exploration/Exploitation activity in Argentina and Chile and over 19 years at Shell International, where he held a wide variety of positions in both Exploration and Production throughout the world including Vice President Exploration in Shell Russia.
Dr Lake is currently the Non Exec Chairman of Invictus Energy, listed in Australia (ASX: IVZ), an independent oil and gas exploration company focused on high impact energy resources in sub-Saharan Africa operating in the highly prospective Cabora Bassa Basin in Zimbabwe, one of the largest under explored interior rift basins in Africa.
Dr Lake is also a Non-Executive Director of Tamboran Resources Limited, focused on exploring for and developing unconventional oil and gas resources in the Northern Territory in Australia with Santos and recently Dr Lake became Non Exec Director of Capterio which works with energy companies to capture flared gas, create value, reduce pollution, and improve reputation. He has also previously held Board positions with the Energy and Geoscience Institute (EGI), University of Utah, USA and CeREES Centre of GeoEnergy, University of Durham, UK.
Dr Lake received his doctorate from Durham University and is a member of AAPG, HGS and PESGB.
Chikezie Nwosu

Mr. Chikezie Nwosu is an experienced senior executive with 30 years local and international experience in the oil & gas industry with demonstrated expertise in the management of upstream oil & gas projects, new business development, divestments and acquisitions, midstream gas and downstream refining; delivering Nigeria’s first modular refinery amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in October 2020.
Chikezie is a strong energy professional with a proven track record of excellence in managing technical and non-technical business and project risks and opportunities, having worked with leading international oil and gas companies including Shell International E&P B.V. the Netherlands as a Global Principal Technical Expert and Asset/ Subsurface Development Manager (New Business Development), Qatar CO2/EOR, Member, Technical expert and Value Assurance consultant in the Shell International Group’s Top 70 and Emerging Top 70 Projects, SIEP B.V., as Regional Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa in Petroleum Engineering and Senior Front-End Project Manager in Shell Companies in Nigeria, retiring in 2012.
Mr. Nwosu then joined SINOPEC-Addax Petroleum as General Manager Development & Asset Management, in 2012, delivering 5 major upstream oil projects and was appointed Acting Deputy Managing Director (Technical) within 6 weeks of resumption.
Mr. Nwosu has held Senior Executive positions in SINOPEC-Addax Petroleum Nigeria Limited, as Deputy Managing Director (Technical) and a member of the Board of Directors of both Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria Limited (APDNL) and Addax Petroleum Exploration Nigeria Limited (APENL) and for Tolea Energy B.V. the Netherlands, a small independent Energy Investment firm, as Executive Vice-President for Business Development and Africa.
He is a graduate of the University of Ife (Nuclear Engineering Science), holds an M.Sc with distinction in Physics from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, (majoring in Theoretical Nuclear Physics), and is a member of several professional organizations including the Society of Petroleum Engineers (2017/2018 SPE Nigeria Council Chairman and member Board of Trustees), Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) and currently serves on the Advisory Council of the Nelson Mandela Institute’s African University of Science and Technology (AUST), Abuja.
In October 2019, Mr. Nwosu was appointed the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Waltersmith and effective November 21, 2019 was appointed as a Director on the Board of Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited and Waltersmith Refining & Petrochemical Company.
Dr. Carole Nakhle

Dr Carole Nakhle is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Crystol Energy, an advisory, research and training firm. Her company was awarded Best Independent Energy Consultancy – UK 2018.
Born and raised in Lebanon, Dr Nakhle is an internationally recognised authority on the interplay between geopolitics, economics, energy and governance.
With a unique breadth of experience gained from working across a wide spectrum of stakeholders, Dr Nakhle worked with major oil and gas companies (Eni and Statoil) at the executive level, governments and policy makers (including Special Parliamentary Advisor in the UK on Energy and Middle Eastern Issues), international organisations (Commonwealth Secretariat, IMF and World Bank), as well as academic institutions and specialized think tanks on a global scale. She is an active member on the Governing Board of the Natural Resource Governance Institute and Member of its Audit and Finance Committee. She is a Senior Fellow at the Lebanese Centre for Policy Studies and lead Expert with the Geopolitical Intelligence Services.
Dr Nakhle has played an integral part of the OECD Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource-based Development and has contributed to the development of the organization’s Principles for Durable Extractive Contracts. In addition to her commercial role, she regularly, lectures at the Blavatnik School of Government at Oxford University, University of Surrey in the UK, and Saint Joseph University in Lebanon.
Her views are highly regarded, with more than 200 articles in academic journals, newspapers and magazines to her credit. She is an avid commentator on energy in the international media and at major conferences and industry gatherings, in many countries. She has appeared on Al Arabiyya, Al Jazeera, BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, CNN, France 24 and Sky News, among others. She is also the author of two widely acclaimed books: Petroleum Taxation: Sharing the Wealth published in 2008 and re-printed in 2012 and used as primary reference in leading universities and industry training courses; and Out of the Energy Labyrinth (2007), co-authored with Lord David Howell, former Secretary of State for Energy in the UK.
Dr Nakhle has worked on projects in more than 50 countries, collaborating closely with host governments, parliaments and ministries, in addition to the private sector, think tanks and civil societies. She has also been on exploratory visits to the Arctic and North Sea.
She is fluent in Arabic, English and French. In 2017, she gave evidence to the International Relations Committee at the UK Parliament on the transformation of power in the Middle East and implications for UK policy. In the same year, she received the Honorary Professional Recognition Award from the Tunisian Minister of Energy, Mines & Renewable Energy. She was also awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Energy Institute.
In 2007, she founded the not-for-profit organisation ‘Access for Women in Energy’, with the aim of promoting the development of women in the energy sector. She has supported the development of similar initiatives in Ghana, Tunisia and the UAE, where she sits on ADIPEC’s Advisory Board for Inclusion and Diversity.
She features on the Oil & Gas Council’s list of Top Female Executives in the global energy industry, and as “one of only a handful of advisors to make the list”.
Hani Al-Khalifa

Hani Al-Khalifa graduated from the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in 1996 with a BS in mechanical engineering. For the past 20 years, he has undertaken various responsibilities within the Southern Area Oil Operations in Saudi ARAMCO. For the past two years, he has been a member of the Technical Support Division reporting to the Vice-President. In 2011, Hani received the CEO’s Distinguished Innovation Award.
He was selected to be an SPE Distinguished Lecturer on the topic of Produced Water Re-injection system Optimization in 2013, which was delivered to 24 different audiences around the globe.
Hani has been very active in the Produced Water Society and was selected as the Chairman of the Society’s Middle East Section
