Adewale Tinubu, Group CEO, Oando PLC
Wale Tinubu is the Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, Africa’s leading indigenous energy solutions provider listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and the first African company with a cross-border inward listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
Widely recognized for his successful transformation of Oando from a petroleum marketing company to an integrated energy group, Wale led the company’s landmark $1.5 billion acquisition of ConocoPhillips, Nigeria.
In 2016, Wale oversaw the largest capital inflow (~USD 300 million) into the Nigerian oil and gas sector via partnerships in its Downstream and Midstream businesses with Vitol, the largest energy trader and Helios, Africa’s largest private equity firm. This was achieved against the backdrop of the largest depression in the sector in 10 years and a recession in Nigeria.
In recognition of his valuable contributions to the development of the African oil and gas industry, Wale was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ West Africa by Ernst & Young and inducted into the firm’s World Entrepreneur of the Year Academy.
He has also been lauded as the ‘African Business Leader of the Year’ by Africa Investor in recognition of his numerous achievements.
